Zach Roerig And Julie Plec Are A Part Of Vampire Diaries

Zach Roerig and Julie Plec have a cordial relationship while working on The Vampire Diaries. The pair had a highly professional friendship.

Julie, the co-creator and producer of the teen series, urged Kevin to read books as he was not initially interested in developing the series.

As he began to read books, he eventually became interested in the story.

Plec solely carried out the attempt of a second spin-off without the involvement of Kevin.

The back-door pilot centered on The Originals, starring British actor Joseph Morag titled The Originals landed on October 3, 2013.

Speaking of Roerig, who is notable for his roles as Hunter Atwood in One Life to Live and Casey Hughes in As the World Turns, took the role of Donovan, Elana’s childhood friend and former boyfriend and Vicki’s younger brother.

His character wants no part in supernatural events. He then becomes a police officer to protect the town from vampires. He becomes the town’s sheriff in the eighth season and plans to run for mayor.

Before landing the role of Donovan, Roerig did the audition for the lead roles. Plec admits, “We look high and low to cast Stefan and Damon.”

Zach Dated Candice Accola On The Show

Zach and Candice Accola of The Vampire Diaries had romance in front of and behind the camera. The pair dated while working together in the teen drama series.

Their on-screen characters Donovan and Carolina Forbes grew up in Mystic Falls and initially didn’t get along. They later became friends, slowly progressing into a romance in the first season.

The spark didn’t last long because Donovan found Forbes turned into a vampire in the next season. The plot allowed Tyler to get close to Forbes. Their togetherness didn’t last but they stayed friends.

Accola then started dating musician Joe King after they met in February 2012 at a Super Bowl event. The pair became engaged in May 2013 and tied the knot on October 18, 2014. They share two daughters.

In May 2022, the actress shared she had filed for divorce.

Nathalie Kelley (2016-2017)

Roerig and Nathalie started dating after meeting on the set of The Vampire Diaries. While they never seemed to share the screen during the show, the actress said that was probably for the best.
