Olivia House The American hip-hop group De La Soul was founded in 1988 in the Amityville neighbourhood of Long Island, New York.
They have made significant contributions to the development of the jazz rap and alternative hip-hop subgenres and are most recognized for their varied sampling and peculiar lyrics.

In high school, Posdnuos, Trugoy, and Maseo created the group, which producer Prince Paul became interested in after hearing a demo tape of the song “Plug Tunin'”. The band’s debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, has been dubbed “a hip-hop classic” for its fun wordplay, creative sampling, and clever skits.
The album was the group’s largest commercial success to date, and even while succeeding albums received excellent reviews from critics, sales decreased over time. They are an integral member of the Spitkicker group and had a significant impact on rapper/actor Mos Def at the beginning of his career.
After the Jungle Brothers, they are the Native Tongues group with the second-longest history. The ensemble received a Grammy in 2006 for their work with Gorillaz on the song “Feel Good Inc.”
