Lin Brehmer started a career in radio in January 1977. His first gig as a disc jockey was at WQBK-FM in Albany, New York, where he picked the moniker “The Reverend of Rock and Roll.” Brehmer quit his post as music director at WQBK after seven years and relocated to Chicago to work for WXRT starting in October 1984.

Brehmer worked on WXRT for over three decades, the majority of which he spent as a morning DJ before shifting to middays in 2020.

His “Lin’s Bin” segments, in which he answered a listener’s query while weaving prose with his encyclopedic knowledge of music and popular culture, are probably best remembered.

Brehmer wed Sara Farr, whom he met at Colgate University.

In November and December 2022, he went back on the air for many weeks. Brehmer passed away on January 22, 2023, and his longtime coworker Terri Hemmert informed listeners of WXRT of his passing that morning.

On July 12, 2022, Brehmer stated on the radio that he had been battling prostate cancer and would be taking a leave of absence from WXRT beginning on July 15 to receive chemotherapy.
