Advanced SearchSean Covel is an American film producer and philanthropist, best known as one of the co-producers of the award-winning 2004 film 'Napoleon Dynamite.' The film was later adapted into a ‘Fox’ animated series, also produced by Covel. A two-time 'Film Independent Spirit Award' nominee, Covel has mostly collaborated with writer-producer Chris Wyatt. They studied together as part of the 'Peter Stark Producing Program' at the 'University of Southern California.' Other notable films produced by Covel are 'The 12 Dogs of Christmas,' 'Think Tank,' 'Beneath,' 'Broken Hill,’ ‘Café,' 'Concrete Blondes,' 'Driving Blind,' 'Carter & June,' and 'Tater Tot & Patton.' He is a passionate philanthropist and runs a non-profit body in collaboration with a pizza joint to provide meals to underprivileged children. He also works to provide books to such children. The idea was conceived after Covel met Steve Cronin and Terri Larsen, the owners of the 'Rapid City Pizza Ranch,' and agreed to establish the charitable venture. They began with the goal of supplying 1,200 meals. In its first year, '12 Days of Pizza' supplied 144 meals to 12 families. Over a period of 3 years, the number crossed 12,000. The initiative provided meals to both children and their families during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.In 2019, Covel and illustrator Rebecca Swift launched a book series for children. 'Porter' and the 'Hoarder’ were two lead characters in the books. The series is now part of a charitable program with 'The United Way,' called the 'Black Hills Reads,' which provides books to elementary school children in the Black Hills area.
