Mario Bratkon Died in pedestrian crash in Fitchburg

Around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Mario Bratkon, 76, of Fitchburg, was murdered while crossing the street in a crosswalk near Water and Nichols streets. This is according to the district attorney.
According to a preliminary investigation, Bratkon was struck by an eastbound Toyota Corolla on Water Street while he was in the crosswalk, according to state police.
Bratkon was transported by air to Worcester’s UMass Memorial Medical Center, where doctors declared him dead.

The Toyota’s driver was not hurt in the collision, and he stayed at the scene.
