From 1992 to 1997, Mary J Blige was in a relationship with fellow R&B singer Cedric K-Ci Hailey of the R&B group Jodeci and K-Ci & JoJo.

Though he is the lead singer of Jodeci and second-lead singer of K-Ci & JoJo, he has taken on his own solo projects as K-Ci. His most notable solo project is his cover of Bobby Womack’s “If You Think You’re Lonely Now” in 1994.

During an interview on the UK television show The Word in 1995, Blige confirmed her engagement to Hailey. However, Hailey denied that they were going to get married.
