Harry Lorayne (May 4, 1926 – April 7, 2023) was an American magician, memory trainer, and author who Time magazine dubbed “The Yoda of Memory Training” and “The World’s Greatest Memory-Training Expert.” He was famous for his remarkable memory displays and appeared on various television shows, including The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson 24 times.

Skye Wentworth, his publicist, confirmed his death at a hospital but did not disclose the cause. He had lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts, just north of Boston.

Mr. Lorayne was a sought-after guest on television shows and a particular favorite of Johnny Carson’s, appearing on “The Tonight Show” more than two dozen times.

Mr. Lorayne began his career as a sleight-of-hand artist and was regarded as one of the country’s top card magicians well into his eighties. He was a direct, happy descendant of the 19th-century midway pitchman and the 20th-century borscht belt tummler as a magician and mnemonist.
