Carol Higgins Clark, who starred in multiple TV movies and wrote the best-selling Regan Reilly books, passed away on June 12. That made her 66 years old.

According to her family’s statement to The New York Times, she lost her fight with appendix cancer and passed away in Los Angeles.

Clark was born in New York City on July 28, 1956; her mother, the bestselling thriller novelist Mary Higgins Clark, passed away in 2020 at the age of 92. She attended the Beverly Hills Playhouse for acting training after earning her degree from Mount Holyoke in 1978.

She eventually settled on a career in writing. Several of her best-selling books feature private investigator Regan Reilly, including the 1992 Agatha Award and 1992 Anthony Award nominee Decked. She has made appearances in TV adaptations of many of the novels in the series.

Together with her late mother, she created numerous books with a holiday theme. When she wasn’t writing, Clark acted in adaptations of her mother’s works including The Cradle Will Fall, While My Pretty One Sleeps, and A Cry in the Night for television. She also had cameos in the films My Gal Sunday, The Mystery Cruise, and Deck the Halls.

Following that, Clark was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2016. Her mom was inducted in 2011, so she got a special introduction from her.

Her siblings Marilyn, Warren, and David Clark are all alive and well. Her sister Patricia preceded her in death.

Her web obituary announces a wake at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. The next day, at 10:30 a.m., a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent Ferrer Church.
