Steven Balderama, the 2016 NPC Tournament of Champions Bodybuilding champion, fell away unexpectedly on Monday, June 5, 2023.

The bodybuilding community is in shock and disbelief over his untimely death. Steven was a cherished local resident who was well-known for his generous and upbeat demeanor.

I’m shocked to hear this news because this man was one of the friendliest individuals I’ve ever met and was always encouraging and gave me wise advise, said one of his friends and fellow bodybuilders who preferred to remain unnamed. Many of us found enormous inspiration in him, and his loss will be mourned keenly.

The South Bay Strength Company, where Steven received his training, published a statement on Facebook asking people to attend a memorial service for him on June 17 at noon.

The gathering is a party to remember and honor Steven’s life rather than a funeral or memorial.

“This is a CASUAL EVENT to have fun, share stories, and remember the funniest and craziest guy we’ll ever know,” the post stated.

The bodybuilding community has suffered a great loss with Steven’s unexpected passing.
