American actress and model Yara Sayeh Shahidi was born on February 10, 2000[2]. She rose to fame for her leading role as Zoey Johnson, the oldest daughter, in the comedy Black-ish (2014–2022) and its spinoff series Grown-ish (2018–present).

She played a major part in The Sun Is Also a Star and appeared in the movies Imagine That (2009), Smallfoot (2018), and others (2019). She was one of “The 30 Most Influential Teenagers of 2016” according to Time.

Afshin, her father, is Iranian, while Keri Salter, her mother, is of African American and Choctaw descent. Prior to Prince’s passing in 2016, Afshin was one of the band’s main photographers.

Yara was 4 years old when the Shahidi family relocated to California due to Afshin’s employment. She has a younger brother named Ehsan and is the older sister of Sayeed Shahidi, a young actress and model. She is related to the rapper Nas.
