Addison Mitchell McConnell III is an American politician and retired attorney serving as Senate minority leader since 2021 and as the senior United States senator from Kentucky, a seat he has held since 1985.

He is the father of three daughters namely – Elly McConnell, Claire McConnell, and Porter McConnell.

He has been married twice. He got married to his first wife Sherrill Redmon in 1968 and got divorced in 1980. He later got married to Elaine Chao – businesswoman and former government official in 1993.
