After appearing in court on Saturday, September 18, 2021, Laura Dickason, the mother accused of murdering her three children, was remanded in custody.

Dickason appeared in Timaru District Court without having her identity suppressed, and Judge Dominic Dravitzki ordered her in jail to a secure forensic mental health hospital until October 5.

There was no request for bail, and she was charged with three counts of murder. During the hearing, a request for name suppression was withdrawn.

Dickason was clothed in black jeans and a grey hooded sweater. She spent most of the hearing staring at the ground.
