The PSG footballer and popular transgender model Rau are nine years apart in age at 32. Under the name Mario Carrizo, she was born a man, but when he was 16 years old, he had surgery to change her gender.

She rose to recognition after being the first openly transgender woman to appear on the cover of a men’s magazine, Playboy, in November 2017. The next year, she released Femme, her debut book, in which she detailed the psychological and physical steps she took to change her sexual orientation.

She took part in a number of fashion shows and strutted down some of the most significant catwalks in the industry. She also made a name for herself as a powerful advocate for LGBTQ+ issues.
