Eugene Melnyk was a Canadian businessman, philanthropist, owner, governor, and chairman of the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators and AHL’s Belleville Senators who passed away on March 28, 2022, due to an undisclosed illness at the age of 62.

He was born on May 27, 1959, in Toronto, Canada to his parents – Ferdinand Melnyk and Vera Melnyk who were both born in Ukraine.

He is a father of two daughters namely, Olivia Melnyk and Anna Melnyk. The mother of Eugene’s two beautiful daughters isn’t known by many since the businessman has kept the identity of their mother secrete. 

The renowned businessman in 2015 was hospitalized for end-stage liver failure and had a liver transplant after a public appeal for a live liver donor found an anonymous donor.
