Actor Penn Dayton Badgley was born in the United States on November 1, 1986. He is well-known for playing Dan Humphrey in the adolescent drama Gossip Girl on The CW from 2007 to 2012 and Joe Goldberg in the thriller You on Netflix (2018–present).

He garnered six Teen Choice Award nods for Gossip Girl, and he won Saturn Award and MTV Movie & TV Award nominations for You.

Badgley has been a member of the Baha’i Faith since 2015 and is an outspoken activist against the persecution of Baháʼís by the government of Iran.

When she was younger, Badgley participated in the Monroe, Washington, Pine Nut Players community theatre and the Seattle Children’s Theatre.

In addition to supporting his acting career, his mother did a variety of jobs and ultimately started a jewellery design company with Badgley’s godmother, Jan Sneed.

He claimed to have “skipped high school completely” and that he enrolled at Santa Monica College at the age of 14 after passing a competence test.

Later, he received a letter of acceptance from the University of Southern California; however, he had to postpone admittance because of a binding commitment. He then enrolled for two years at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
