Bubba Watson, one of the most talented golfers alive, recently had an exclusive interview with the press to discuss his father’s illness. According to him, his father was his hero, and he would be grateful to have him as a parent anytime any day.

Gerry Watson, who died of throat cancer nearly over a decade from today, was a Green Beret (The Army’s Special Forces soldiers) who served in Vietnam. Bubba, however, claimed that his father had been battling the canker for a long time and that it had affected him personally in most of his games.

Gerry passed on October 15, 2010, at his then residence in the States. Watson is a self-taught golfer but he explained how his father influenced him to greatness.

Bubba never took golf lessons as a child, but when he was six years old, his father took him to the golf course by accident, and that is how his greatness and love for the sport began.
