Greitens, 48, is a former Navy SEAL, a bronze star and purple heart recipient, a former Rhodes Scholar, and the creator of The Mission Continues, a nonprofit that assists veterans in reintegrating into their communities through volunteer work.

He served there between 2003 and 2007.

His second book, “Resilience: Hard-Won Wisdom for Living a Better Life,” which was released earlier this month, is a series of motivational letters to a fellow Navy SEAL suffering from ptsd.

He achieved lieutenant commander status during his four tours of duty as a U.S. Navy SEAL officer, oversaw an al-Qaeda-targeting unit, and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
