Al Jazeera’s investigative reporters, posing as customers, recorded conversations with Angel that seemed to implicate him in this illicit exchange.

Amid these allegations, Prophet Jerome Fernando, appointed by Uebert Angel to lead the Glorious Church in Sri Lanka, vehemently denied the accusations and threatened legal action against his accusers. Notably, Uebert and Jerome met with members of the Mahinda Rajapaksa family during preaching sessions and received military protection under the Rajapaksa administration, adding a layer of complexity to the narrative.
