When it comes to rap music, the rapper, T.I, has been an enormous influence on the trajectory of the genre and is often credited for playing a role in the popularization of trap music, which has since become the biggest genre of music in the United States.

Hot New Hip Hop claims many people believe T.I helped bring trap music to the mainstream. According to the outlet, T.I. just dropped a brand new project, THE LIBRA, which is an acronym for “the legend is back running Atlanta” Georgia.

Despite the fact T.I is considered as one of the GOATs in the rap scene, this hasn’t led to a lot of album sales. HITS Daily Double reported this week that the artist’s new record will hit #20 on the charts after moving only 20k units in the first week.

2,900 of these units will be pure album sales, which means many other artists are above him on the chart. Thus far, Pop Smoke‘s record, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, has remained near the top of the chart due to moving 50,000 units.

Taylor Swift, on the other hand, dropped Folklore which marks another big hit for the country-artist-turned-pop-star. As most know, albums sales are often a point of contention and competition in the rap scene, for instance, Tekashi 6ix9ine was all over the headlines this year after it was reported that his record wouldn’t move as many copies as he and his team hoped.

Initially, Tattle Tales, from Tekashi 6ix9ine, was supposed to move 150,000 units, but it later dropped down to just one-third of that estimate. The result of which led to Tekashi 6ix9ine taking to the streets to hand out his new album for free, because, in his own words, “nobody wanted to buy it.”

Since then, Tekashi 6ix9ine has remained almost completely silent on social media, although, Showtime has a new docu-series coming out about him which is based on a piece from Rolling Stone magazine. It’s unclear if Tekashi 6ix9ine will put T.I. on blast for his lackluster sales numbers once he finds out.
