It is with my deepest condolences and sadness that I must say rest in peace to one of the coolest, most inspirational, successful, awesome one of a kind men I’ve been blessed to meet in this lifetime, Steve Philbrick owner & founder of the Bald Mountain Camps Resort in Oquossoc that you see today.

Where do I start, yesterday was an emotional whirlwind to say the least. Hearing of Steve’s passing, I am still in disbelief… then the news of my friend who was hurt in a motorcycle accident. Thank the lord he is okay and on the road to recovery. Just a painful day all around.

I just wanted to take a minute and try to honor this man the best I can. Though I may not have known him for a long time, in the short last winter season playing for you guys at BMC I got the chance to speak with him numerous times and I’ll tell you, the Dos Equis guy has nothing on him. Steve was and will remain the most interesting man in the world to me always. All joking aside I truly mean it. The man built an empire, probably hunted and fished and adventured and enjoyed the great outdoors around the world in places most people like myself could only dream of, had his own plane and flew wherever his heart desired… This man lived twice the life of most of us or even more. And never was he a cocky guy or ever put others down or acted like he was better than anyone, he was funny, kind, a man of dignity and respect and even though I didn’t know him as well as most, he surely made an impact on me. That is the role model we all should try to live up to. A family man who lived life to the fullest. I still cannot believe this news as we were just together chatting at my last gig a few weeks ago telling me you were headed south to Florida… will always remember you Steve, and I pray for the family and the entire BMC family as you all grieve this irreplaceable soul.
