Sanna Marin, the 46th prime minister of Finland, was born on November 16, 1985 in Helsinki, the nation’s capital.

Lauri Marin, who battled alcoholism and was therefore divorced from his wife as the family’s financial situation deteriorated, gave birth to Sanna Marin.

Marin graduated from Pirkkala High School (Pirkkalan Yhteislukio) in 2004 at the age of 19. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in administrative science from the University of Tampere while supporting herself by working as a cashier and a baker.

Sanna Marin joined the Social Democratic Party in 2006 and held the position of first vice president from 2010 to 2012. She attempted to get elected to the Tampere City Council but was unsuccessful.
