Salma Bashir, a five-year-old girl, experienced a tragic turn in her life when she was disembowelled by a pool filter at the age of five.

This event marked the beginning of a series of medical battles that defined her life. Salma underwent a small intestine transplant, which provided some normalcy, but faced organ rejection, leading to a chain reaction of medical difficulties.

In a last-ditch effort to save her life, she underwent additional surgical procedures, resulting in the removal of her small intestine, big intestine, and gall bladder. The toll on her young body was incalculable, and her perseverance in the face of such significant medical obstructions was remarkable.

The narrative of Salma is not only about the medical procedures and organ transplants she underwent but also the agonizing wait for organ transplants. Her life turned into a series of operations, hopes, and failures, and she was constantly fighting for her life to stay alive.

After getting a small intestine transplant, her body rejected the organ and 6 months later it was removed, as was her large intestine and gall bladder

She has now passed away after years of operations and being on the waiting list for multiple organ transplants.
