Basil Keko is well-known for being the first husband of Ruth Buzzi. When Buzzi appeared on The Garry Moore Show in 1964, it marked her first great success on television. Dorothy Loudon had replaced Carol Burnett at the time, who had just left the program.

She played the awkward assistant Shakundala the Silent to her comedy colleague Dom DeLuise, who in this presentation played “Dominic the Great,” the magician. Buzzi joined the regular repertory ensemble on The Entertainers on CBS, a CBS variety show that ran from 1964 through 1955.

She co-starred in Sweet Charity in 1966–1967 with Gwen Verdon, who was married to Bob Fosse, the director of the original cast. Buzzi played a number of little roles, including “the Singing Fairy.”

She was selected for the NBC comedy show Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In because of her work in the Allen routines. She is the only featured player to appear in every episode of Laugh-In, including the pilot and television special.

Buzzi played several recurring roles throughout the series, including Flicker Farkle, the youngest member of the Farkle family, Busy-Buzzi, a Hedda Hopper-like Hollywood gossip columnist, Doris Swizzler, a regular at cocktail lounges who frequently got wasted with her husband Leonard (played by Dick Martin), and one of the Burbank Airlines Stewardesses, who were notorious for their rude behavior.
