The King Family Show (1965), which debuted on ABC the following year he graduated from North Hollywood High School, was a weekly networked one-hour television program produced by his family.
Two years later, Ric enlisted in the army and was given a position with the Pentagon-affiliated “United States Army Field Band” stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. He performed vocal solos with a 25-piece jazz ensemble there for three years. He returned to Los Angeles in 1970 after he was discharged from the military to perform with his family.
The King Family gave live performances, hosted two television shows, produced 15 one-hour holiday specials, and welcomed a lot of guests.
He relocated to the Warner Bros. Studios in 1979, where he worked as an associate producer on the films Private Benjamin, The Young Maverick, Enos, and California Fever, and subsequently as the head of post-production for Warner Bros. television. He was hired by Warner Bros. Studio Facilities in 1993 as the Director of Film Services. In 2006, Ric left Warner Bros. and relocated to Utah.
Since 1983, Ric has also performed in the new group “Reunion” established by the original members of the well-known singing group “The Lettermen,” which has toured the globe for 33 years.
The Lettermen and Reunion’s founding member and main singer, Jim Pike, passed away in 2019. Ric now sings and plays his instrument in solo performances. He and his wife Anna have been together for 45 years.
