Topeka, Kansas – The community is in mourning as it copes with the loss of Mark Ward, the President of Data-Tel Communications. Mark Ward, who held the position of President, passed away in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 41 on Sunday, October 8th, 2023. He was surrounded by his beloved family when he was declared deceased at Stormont Vail Health. Born on June 7, 1982, in Topeka, Kansas, he was the son of Mark Alan Ward and the late Kathleen Anne (Shortall). Mark was a kind and considerate father, brother, friend, and son.
Mark graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 2000. His dedication to athletics during his school years earned him a baseball scholarship to Garden City Community College, and later to Emporia University, where he continued to excel. As the President of Data-Tel Communications, he oversaw the operations of the company.
Family was always a top priority for Mark. He was known for going the extra mile to bring joy to others and had a profound impact on those in his immediate circle. His absence is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mark Ward is survived by his daughter, Ryann Marie Ward of Topeka, KS; father, Mark Ward of Tecumseh, KS; sister, Paige Jones and her husband Phil of Basehor, KS; nephews, Kai and Lawson Jones of Basehor, KS; ex-wife, Heather Ward of Topeka, KS; friend, Adrienne Wagner of Topeka, KS; aunt, Jan Andersen of Kansas City, MO; uncle, John Shortall and his wife Amy of Overland Park, KS; aunt, Ellen Pereira and her husband Gene of Shawnee Mission, KS; and cousins.

The loss of Mark Ward leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community as a whole.
