Peggy Gallek started her journalism career as a newspaper reporter with the Hubbard News, a weekly publication, in 1989, before her coming to Cleveland. In 1990, she started working as a Vindicator in Youngstown. Gallek worked there until 2005 when she went started broadcasting, at WYTV 33. The station was bought by WKBN and Peggy in 2007 and she both work for WYTV, WKBN. She has also worked on Channel 19 since 1999. Before her joining in the 19 Action News team, she spent her four years at WEWS Channel 5. They were both assigned to cover the previous night’s, the Cleveland police chase turned deadly. They were both were sitting in a police conference room.

“So my photographer said, ‘Go for it. Go over and introduce yourself,’ ” she said. “So I did. And you know what? He never looked up. He was texting on his phone. He never raised his head.” Gallek heard a voice saying, “Hi, I’m Peggy. I just started at Fox 8. Your work is great. I really wanted to meet you.”
