Eventually, she caught the attention of Los Angeles-based singer/producer Gnash after posting the cover of his song ‘Disposable’. The latter reached out to her expressing interest in hearing her original musical compositions. O’Brien then sent him her original song titled "i hate u, i love u." After listening to the song, Gnash invited her to record the song with him.
