Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is out of prison after spending eight months behind bars. But, just because the Bureau of Prisons has released him from their custody, it doesn’t mean he’s a free man.

Officers at the Federal Correctional Institution – Otisville released Sorrentino on Thursday, September 12th, but his sentence for his tax evasion conviction is far from over. Sorrentino is now on two years of supervised release, and that comes with a lot of strict rules.

According to Radar Online, Sorrentino had to report to the Probation Office in the district where he was released within 72 hours of walking out of prison. He will also have to take a drug test during the first two weeks he’s at home, and his probation officer will have him take at least two more random drug tests while he is under supervision.

“You must refrain from the illegal possession and use of drugs, including prescription medication not prescribed in your name, and must submit to urinalysis or other forms of testing to ensure compliance,” the court papers read.

Sorrentino is almost four years sober, so avoiding alcohol and illegal drugs hopefully won’t be an issue for the reality star. The court also ordered for Sorrentino to undergo mental health treatment until they discharge him, he must perform 500 hours of community service, and he must also avoid breaking any federal, state, or local laws.

Because Sorrentino committed a financial crime, there are special probation conditions he must also follow. The 37-year-old must disclose his financial records to the U.S. Probation Office, including income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and tax returns. And, he must get the office’s approval if he wishes to open any kind of bank account, secure a loan, open a line of credit, or incur new credit card charges.

Some of the more basic rules that everyone on probation must follow – not just Sorrentino – include living in an approved residence, notifying his probation officer if he plans to move, and allowing the probation officer to visit his home at any time.

Sorrentino is also required to have a full-time job for at least 30 hours a week, he can’t communicate with someone who has a felony record, and he can’t own or possess a firearm.

In the case of his brother Marc – who is currently serving a two-year sentence for preparing a false tax return – Mike can get his probation officer’s permission to contact him.

MTV cameras were reportedly on hand when Sorrentino walked out of prison wearing a gray t-shirt that reads: “The comeback is always greater than the setback.” And, the scene will appear in a future episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
