The surfing world is in shock and mourning after the untimely death of professional surfer Mikala Jones.

While chasing his passion for riding the waves off Indonesia’s Mentawai Islands, Mikala met with a tragic accident that took his life.

Mikala Jones suffered a severe cut to his groin while attempting to conquer an enormous wave.

The gash, likely caused by his board’s fin, unfortunately, severed his femoral artery, resulting in life-threatening bleeding.

Despite the heroic efforts of fellow surfer Santiago Pereira and others present at the scene, Mikala couldn’t be saved.

Born and raised in Hawaii’s Rocky Point, Mikala Jones grew up in a family of surfers and developed an immense passion for the sport.

In his pursuit of unexplored surfing spots, Mikala relocated to Bali, Indonesia, in the early 2000s. There, he dedicated himself to documenting his incredible adventures through stunning videos and photographs.
