Smokey Robinson, a.k.a. William Robinson Jr., is an American music mogul whose abilities have made him stand out in the field.

He was born on February 19, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, and is a Pisces. He has French and African American ancestors, but he also has Nigerian, Portuguese, Scandinavian, and Cherokee ancestry. Robinson was a poor child.

When he was little, his uncle used to call him Smokey Joe. He studied at Northern High. In 1955, he founded the Five Chimes, a doo-wop group that featured Pete Moore, a classmate, and his childhood buddy Ronald White. Five Chimes changed their name to the Matadors in 1957, and Bobby Rogers joined the band. The Matadors quickly gained new members and changed their name to the Miracles.

His parents didn’t have much money, but they nonetheless helped their son, who was not only an above-average student but also athletically gifted, in his varied endeavors.

His studies at Northern High School was where he initially showed signs of musical ability. In the future, he applied to a college to study electrical engineering but left after two months to pursue a career in music.
