Gregory Richard Gianforte (born April 17, 1961) is an American businessman, politician, software engineer, and author who has served as Montana’s 25th governor since 2021. Gianforte, a Republican, was the U.S. representative representing Montana’s at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2021.

RightNow Technologies, a customer relationship management software company, was founded in 1997 by Gianforte and his wife, Susan. The company went public in 2004 and employed over 1,000 people at the time. Oracle Corporation paid $1.5 billion for RightNow Technologies in 2011.

Adam Gianforte is an entrepreneur and has started several companies, including a renewable energy company called Bozeman Energy. Richard Gianforte is the youngest of the Gianforte children.

His wife Susan is the widowed daughter of German immigrants to New York City, where she was born and raised. She received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, and an MBA from NYU while working for Bell Laboratories.
