Former Husker Center Mark Pelini dies in car crash.

A automobile accident on Sunday night in Indiana claimed the life of former Nebraska football center Mark Pelini. At 31, Pelini was a young man.

The incident occurred on the Indiana Toll Road in western St. Joseph County at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by our sister station WNDU.

A preliminary examination suggests that a white 2017 Ford SUV was heading west when it hit a deer and then crossed the center median before colliding with a black 2017 Ford pickup truck that was traveling in the opposite way.

The SUV’s driver and front-seat passenger both perished in the collision. There was a 31-year-old woman named Jillian Marian from Youngstown, Ohio, who was riding shotgun with a 31-year-old man named Pelini from the Philippines.

Also found dead at the site was the pickup’s front-seat passenger. She is 57-year-old Harrisburg native Jane Beecher.

Meanwhile, the pickup’s driver and a passenger in the rear seat were injured. David Taylor, 56, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was recognized as the driver, and Christopher Taylor, 29, also of Harrisburg, was identified as the passenger. Because of their injuries, they continue to be treated in the hospital.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Pelini was a football player for Nebraska from 2010 to 2014.

Aside from being the nephew of Bo Pelini, the former head coach of Nebraska, he was also an accomplished athlete.

All three victims of the Sunday night crash on the Indiana Toll Road have been positively identified by the state police.

In the eastbound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to investigate a crash.

According to the ISP report, a white 2017 Ford SUV was traveling west on the Toll Road when it collided with a deer. Following this, the SUV went across the center median and into oncoming eastbound traffic, where it collided with a black 2017 Ford pickup truck.

The crash took the lives of both the white SUV’s driver and passenger. Driver Mark Pelini, 31, from Canfield, Ohio, has been identified. Jillian Marian, 31, of Youngstown, Ohio, was the front-seat passenger.

David Taylor, 56, and Christopher Taylor, 29, both of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, were seriously injured in the accident and transferred to Memorial Hospital in South Bend in a Ford pickup vehicle. ISP stated that they are still being treated for their injuries in the hospital.

Jane Beecher, 57, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the truck’s front-seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the site.
