NCIS star Mark Harmon is getting candid about his 31-year marriage to actress Pam Dawber. He not only shares how they are opposites but reveals that he is proud to be married to the brunette beauty.

The actor sat down with People magazine recently to talk about his stellar career, living life in the spotlight and what matters to him the most, his family. Harmon and Dawber have two sons, Sean age 30 and Ty age 26. He shared the one secret to the success of his three-decades-long marriage, maturity.

“We were both in our thirties when we got married, so hopefully the stupid stuff we did earlier. That’s probably the closest I have to what the key is,” Harmon shared with the magazine.

The two are complete opposites, another secret he contributes to their long-lasting marriage. They don’t genuinely like the same thing, which keeps life interesting. It also forces each one of them to look at things from a different perspective. One example Harmon shared was regarding his role as Freddy Shoop in 1987’s hit comedy Summer School.

“I wanted to do it just because I was excited to work with director Carl Reiner. That was a game changer for me, like, ‘He thinks I can do this?!’ and that meant a lot. But Pam said, ‘Don’t do that. Don’t do this movie.’ We don’t generally like the same thing, and that’s been healthy for us, actually,” he revealed.

Along with sharing what has made his marriage work for all these years, Harmon admitted that he is proud to be married to Dawber and that is probably the most crucial thing in a lasting marriage.

The couple even renewed their vows back in 2017 in honor of their 30th wedding anniversary. It consisted of an intimate ceremony at their home with about 30 people who are close with the couple. The vow renewal was very casual and focused on celebrating the life they built together.
