Desmond Michael Bane, an American professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association, was born on June 25, 1998.

He represented the TCU Horned Frogs in collegiate basketball.

He excelled at baseball more than basketball when he was younger, but he liked basketball. Bane played football and soccer in addition to baseball up until the eighth grade, with guidance from his great-grandfather at the young level.

Boston Celtics made Bane their number 30 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He made history by becoming the first TCU player selected in the first round since 1995. Later, Bane was transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for a future draft pick. The Memphis Grizzlies declared their signing of Bane on November 25, 2020.

He moved in with his great-grandparents when he was two years old, where he spent the remainder of his boyhood in Richmond, Indiana.
