Around 12:40 p.m. on June 16, an 18-year-old man was killed while operating an electric Citi bike on First Avenue close to his Stuyvesant Town residence. He was hit by an Amazon delivery truck.

The NYPD identified the victim as Malcolm Livesey. His family is in Stuyvesant Town, where he grew up playing sports in the local leagues and attending Baruch College Campus High School.

Friends from the neighborhood were shocked by the death.

Although police stated that they are still investigating, the unnamed 31-year-old driver stayed at the scene and was not detained. According to Streetblog, the delivery vehicle he was using lacked license plates.

The victim allegedly made a lane change to the right while driving northbound on First Avenue close to 17th Street, according to police. He was also traveling northbound on First Ave. in the right lane of the truck that struck him.

The deceased, who had suffered significant head injuries, was found by police laying on the road. He was taken swiftly to the neighboring Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
