On January 4, 1990, Lucy Letby, a British serial killer and former neonatal nurse, was born.She has currently become the most prolific serial child killer in recent British history as a result. 

Between 2015 and 2016, Lucy attacked at least thirteen infants under her care, killing seven of them.

Letby, a neonatal nurse at Chester’s Countess of Chester Hospital since 2011, was imprisoned in July 2018 in connection with an unusually high number of child fatalities that took place between June 2015 and June 2016.

In June 2019 and again in November 2020, following her release on bond, Lucy was detained once more in connection with additional infant deaths at the hospital.

The day after her last arrest, she was charged with eight murders and ten attempted murders.

At the conclusion of her trial, which lasted from October 2022 to August 2023, Lucy was found guilty of murdering seven infants and attempting to kill six more.

On August 21, 2023, she choose not to show up in court, so Justice Goss sentenced her in her absence to life in prison with a complete life order.

To counter accusations that she had an affair with a married doctor on the ward, unmarried Letby testified at trial that she actually did have a secret boyfriend.
