Actress and writer Lena Dunham has always been an advocate for body-positivity and confidence. Dunham has shown off her curves on her Instagram and her series, Girls, and today posted a photo of herself in a bikini, with this caption: "Oh, how I regret not having worn a bikini for the entire year I was twenty-six. In 2017, Dunham began working with personal trainer Tracy Anderson. However, she made this decision to better her health, not because she wanted to lose weight. Dunham told People, "I came to her and was like, 'I have endometriosis, I have chronic physical pain, I just want to feel stronger, I just want to have a stronger core, I want to feel like I have more power throughout my day, how do I get there?'" Dunham later posted on Instagram her thoughts on her recent approach. "My weight loss isn't a triumph and it also isn't some sign I've finally given in to the voices of trolls. Because my body belongs to ME — at every phase, in every iteration," she wrote.

Dunham told Health.com that she learned to love working out, and that it helped her stick with it. "When it became something that actually gave me pleasure, I was shocked. Also, endorphins are real. You run with someone for an hour, you feel pretty good," she said. "Running for an hour does not make you feel worse."

Dunham says that her wellness journey does not involve using a scale. "There is no reason why you ever need to be getting a scale or measuring your value by a scale," she said to Health.com. 

Dunham has always been an advocate for body-positivity and self-love, and encourages other women to do the same.​​ "I know that so many women think they're being held back by the shape of their body, and ultimately what is holding them back is that they have absorbed all of this negative messaging," Dunham said to Health.com. "And so you just have to work, we all have to work really hard to take care of ourselves and feed ourselves good information, just like we feed ourselves good food."

Dunham has worked with trainer, Tracy Anderson, to help craft her workout. Dunham tells Health.com that her typical workout with Anderson is "A mix of aerobics, strength training, and something that resembles Pilates." Dunham praised Anderson's methods in the same interview saying, "With Tracy it's not about getting everyone to look a specific way. It's about getting everyone to feel strong. And she uses the word 'connected' a lot, which I really love. I love the idea of feeling connected."
