Lata Mangeshkar, commonly referred to as the “Nightingale of India,” was one of the vocalists in the Indian cinema business who could sing in a variety of styles.  She had early music instruction from her father. Lata was spotted acting in her father’s plays by the time she was five years old.

All four of her siblings: Meena, Asha, Usha, and Hridaynath are talented singers and musicians.

Lata Mangeshkar provided the vocal voice for numerous Bollywood leading ladies throughout the course of an almost eight-decade career.

In more than a thousand Hindi and 36 regional films, she provided the voiceover for more over 5,000 songs. She had an unheard-of influence on Indian film music. With her astounding abilities, Lata has been expanding the parameters of music since 1942.

She performed songs for actresses ranging from Madhubala to Priyanka Chopra over the years and recorded a variety of records, although her flexible voice is most known for ghazals, pop, etc.

On February 6, 2022, Lata Mangeshkar passed away.

Who were Lata Mangeshkar parents?

Lata was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on September 28, 1929, to Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar (father), a classical singer and theater performer.

Shevanti (later Shudhamati), her mother, was a Gujarati woman from Thalner in the Bombay Presidency (now in northwest Maharashtra).

Deenanath’s first wife Narmada had passed away before he married Shevanti, who was her older sister; Shevanti was Deenanath’s second wife.
