Joyce Evelyn Underwood is the mother of Sheryl Underwood. Sheryl Patrice Underwood was born on October 28, 1963, in Arkansas to her parents; Joyce Evelyn Underwood and Cleo Underwood.

In 1992, Underwood won the crown of Miss Black America, and later, she was a regular panellist on the daytime talk show, “The Talk,” from 2011 to 2021.

She has also appeared on several television shows, including “The Steve Harvey Show,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” and “The Parkers.” Underwood has also hosted BET’s “Comic View” and “The Sheryl Underwood Show.”

Aside from her entertainment career, Underwood is also known for her philanthropy work. She is an advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and is the founder of the Sheryl Underwood Foundation, which provides support to individuals affected by the disease.
