All About College Hockey Goalie Jori Jones 

Jori Jones (age: 19, October 8, 2003-August 20, 2023) was a college student who tragically lost her life at the age of 19 in a car accident on August 20, 2023.

She was a talented goalkeeper for the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team, which had recently secured the Division III national championship.

The accident occurred in rural Minnesota, where Jori and three of her teammates were involved in the crash.

Ignoring Stop Sign Caused The Accident 

In August 2023, Jori embarked on a team bonding trip to North Dakota in the company of her friends, namely Gianna Gasparini, Lily Mortenson, and Kayla Bluhm. Tragically, their SUV collided with a minivan at a rural crossroads in west-central Minnesota during their journey.

According to the State Patrol’s report, the collision occurred because Gasparini could not engage the brakes as they approached the intersection.

The minivan driver, Brandi Rasmussen, aged 28, recounted to the Star-Tribune that she came to a complete stop at the four-way intersection but was sent airborne when the SUV struck her vehicle.

Promptly, first responders arrived and transported the injured individuals to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Jori succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the accident.

Jori Jones Was From Little Canada

On October 8, 2003, Jori Lynn Jones (age 19) was born in Little Canada City in Minnesota. Her father, Jon Jones, serves as a firefighter, while her mother, Britt Sundgaard Jones, is a homemaker. Jori grew up in Little Canada with two younger siblings, Kylie Jones, her sister, and Beckam Jones, her brother.

She attended Roseville Area High School, where she actively participated in youth and high school hockey.

Her coach at the time considered her one of the most talented players he had ever coached. In 2021, Jori completed her schooling and commenced her journey at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Even at Gustavus, she continued to excel in ice hockey. Jori Jones served as a freshman goaltender on the Gustavus team that achieved a remarkable feat by securing the college’s first NCAA Division III national championship in March.

According to Jori Jones’ friends, she was a lovely person who could make anyone fall in love with her. She was kind and knew how to spread positivity.

She was a star player and was left with very little time after daily practice and college studies, so she chose to stay single.
