John “Blackie Onassis” Rowan, a former drummer for Urge Overkill, passed away at the age of 57. A band member posted on social media to confirm the news.

Onassis joined Chicago rock band Urge Overkill in 1991 just in time for the release of their third album, The Supersonic Storybook. Later, the band signed a large record deal with Geffen Records, and Onassis played on albums such as 1993’s Saturation and Exit the Dragon.
