A former professional American football quarterback, James Samuel Everett III (born January 3, 1963) was a quarterback in the National Football League for twelve seasons (NFL). Everett attended Purdue University and was chosen by the New York Giants in the first round of the 1986 National Football League Draft. The Houston Oilers chose him with the third overall selection in the first round, making him the first quarterback taken in the draught that year. After failing to reach an agreement with Everett on a contract, the Oilers transferred his rights to the Los Angeles Rams, with whom Everett had previously played from 1986 to 1993. His next stop was the New Orleans Saints, where he spent three seasons from 1994 to 1996 before finishing his career with the San Diego Chargers in 1997.
