The person killed in a car accident on Saturday morning in Dallas County has been named as James Lee Bernard III of Dallas, Texas.

Early on Saturday morning in Dallas, a two-vehicle collision claimed the lives of Bernard, 25, and a child who was perched on a female passenger’s lap.

According to accounts, about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Bernard was driving a car on East Grand Avenue in Dallas near La Vista Drive when, for an unknown cause, the car off the road. Following then, the car leaped a curb and hit a tree.

The baby and the 22-year-old female passenger were taken to a nearby hospital, where the infant was later declared dead. The woman sustained severe, unidentified injuries.

Bernard, who had just moved from Lafayette, Louisiana, had been declared dead when he arrived.
