whose body was discovered at least 60 miles north in a remote part of Napa County, is being looked into by Oakland police.
Spokesman Paul Chambers said that Oakland police were informed of the child’s death on December 23 just before 2:30 a.m. by San Pablo police in response to a question from KTVU on Thursday.
The infant died in Oakland, but the body was discarded in Napa County, according to homicide detectives. The youngster was discovered buried in a shallow grave, according to a person familiar with the inquiry, KTVU.
LeRonne Armstrong, the chief of Oakland police, stated at a news conference on Thursday that the child was slain around International Boulevard but he would not provide a specific area.
When San Pablo police pulled over a car two days before Christmas, the investigation got underway.
The boy’s mother, a 17-year-old who had been reported missing from Fairfield, was there.
Keonte Harris, 21, of Antioch was also riding in that automobile.
According to Oakland police, Harris had been prostitution the boy’s mother on the city’s streets, including near the intersection of East 15th Street and 19th Avenue. He would grab her by the arm and choke her, the girl informed authorities. Authorities said in court documents that they had been residing in his car or a motel during the previous month.
Although the Oakland police refused to name the suspect or their position, they did claim that someone connected to the toddler’s death was detained.
Harris was accused of human trafficking by Alameda County prosecutors.
However, there have been no accusations made in relation to Ja’mari’s murder.
Eli Yager, a resident of Fairfield, reported seeing police digging on Rockville Road, which runs through Napa County and is close to Abernathy Road in Fairfield.
When this incident occurred, police informed worried bystanders that they had received information that a kid had been buried nearby.
According to Yager, officers were searching multiple houses with shovels for a shallow grave.
The infant was discovered outside, the police chief of Oakland said on Thursday.
Friends of Ja’mari’s grandma are raising money to help with the boy’s burial while police are working to piece together the case.
