Jordan Michael Houston, better known by his stage name Juicy J, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 5, 1975. He is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is the younger brother of rapper Project Pat and a founding member of the 1991-formed Three 6 Mafia, a Southern hip-hop group.

In the hitherto East and West Coast-dominated rap industry, Juicy J and his production partner DJ Paul significantly contributed to the South’s ascent to popularity. Behind the duo’s direction, Three 6 Mafia developed into a well-known rap empire and, in the mid- to late ’90s, produced a number of solo albums for the group’s numerous members.

Juicy J, like his production partner, specialized in moody, spooky tunes with bass-heavy beats and unsettling sounds. As a performer with Three 6 Mafia, he also raps.

His appearances on three Top 40 singles—Mike Will Made It’s “23,” Usher’s “I Don’t Mind,” and his own song, “Bandz a Make Her Dance” (featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz)—are his most notable as a solo artist. This song served as the lead single for his third album and major label debut, Stay Trippy, which was released on August 27, 2013.
