We mourn the loss of Hugh Weber, a researcher, network theorist, storyteller, community activist, design advocate, and small-town kid.

Hugh Weber, the Sioux Falls, South Dakota resident who founded OTA and DudeToDad, passed away yesterday, March 15th, 2023. Yesterday, Jim and I suffered a loss.

Hugh Weber is a man who fervently believes in the limitless potential of possibility, to put it simply. Hugh’s conviction inspired him to found and inaugurate OTA, a significant creative meeting in the north Midwest, among other fruitful endeavors.

It has also helped him craft a vision for the OTA region (North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota) that involves connecting the disconnected and building a network of creatives and changemakers ready to bring their unique perspectives to the problems and challenges faced by residents of the OTA region.

Hugh and his wife Amy reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Amy is a stunning, clever, and incredibly patient woman. Hugh founded DudetoDad.com in response to the birth of his daughter Emerson, a website that has gained over 80,000 followers (@DudetoDad), many of whom are other new dads looking for (and typically receiving) assistance. Hugh has established a thriving web presence and is the author of Dude to Dad: The First 9 Months, which will be published on Father’s Day 2013. Additionally, Hugh and Amy will welcome their second kid in April 2013.

Between OTA, Dude to Dad, Institute of Possibility, and some semblance of a “normal life,” Hugh is a busy person. He enjoys it this manner, too.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the deceased’s family and friends, who have been struggling with the loss of such an intelligent and compassionate individual.
