Robert James Ritchie, also referred to as Bobby Shazam or Kid Rock, was born in the United States on January 17, 1971.

He combines metal, hip-hop, country, and rock in his music.

He has asserted that he is a self-taught musician who is proficient in all of the instruments used by his backup band. He produced all but two of his albums.

Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, released by Jive Records in 1990, marked Kid Rock’s debut as a rapper and DJ. His subsequent independent albums, The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Morning Stoned Pimp (2004) marked the development of his own sound (1996)

Kid Rock began his professional music career as a member of the hip-hop group The Beast Crew in the late 1980s. During this period, he got to know the rapper D-Nice. Thanks to that link, he would soon begin local appearances for Boogie Down Productions.
