It starts with the Chief walkiing past Spartan Sarah Palmer, and you get to see how tall he is in comparison to her. Granted, he’s wearing his Mjolnir armor, but then again, so is she. Without his armor on, Master Chief stands at six feet and seven inches. That’s taller than Superman’s recorded height.
Early Halo games don’t give the option to have Master Chief sprint, but regardless of how he runs in the game, lore tells us that Master Chief can run very quickly, faster than the game’s mechanics make it appear. In Mjolnir armor, Master Chief can run up to 60 miles per hour.
While Master Chief is in his armor, he weighs one thousand pounds. This can make even the most ardent of Halo fans question how he could ever move at such high speeds as 60 mph. The earth should tremble at his approach. He should not be able to sneak up on unsuspecting Covenant forces while wearing it.
How Tall Is Master Chief Without Armor?
It’s very rare to see Master Chief without his suit of armor. We first see him as a six-year-old kid just before he was abducted and conscripted. At this age, he is already a head taller than his schoolmates, and much stronger than they are.
The Mjolnir Mark IV suit added about 4 inches to a soldier’s height. The new Mjolnir Mark V suit added at least six inches to each soldier’s height.
In the cutscene of Halo 4, Master Chief appears much taller than Sarah Palmer. Fans theorize it might be because the scene was computer-generated imagery (CGI). The special effects exaggerate Master Chief’s height.
Spartans are born bigger than other humans. They are then chemically and hormonally engineered when they’re just getting into adolescence. Their specially designed exoskeleton armor reinforces their bodies and elongates their height.
