Brett Michael Kavanaugh born February 12, 1965, is an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

President Donald Trump nominated him on July 9, 2018, and he has served since October 6, 2018.

He previously served as a United States Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and as a staff lawyer for various offices of the United States Federal Government.

Kavanaugh married Ashley Estes, former President George W. Bush’s secretary, in 2004.

The couple has two daughters who are known as Liza Kavanaugh and Margaret Kavanaugh. They reside in Chevy Chase Section Five, Maryland.

Kavanaugh stated that he was a registered Republican during his confirmation hearing before the District of Columbia Circuit in May 2006.

In 2018, Kavanaugh’s reported salary as a federal judge was $220,600, and his salary as a Harvard Law School lecturer was $27,000.

Following the leak of a draft majority opinion for the Supreme Court case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in 2022, protests erupted at Kavanaugh’s home bringing him to the news.
