According to The Associated Press, at least five individuals were shot at a subway station in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday morning.

The search for the gunman was complicated Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Eric Adams said, because a security camera at the 36th Street subway station that would have captured the scene was not working.

Mr. Adams remarked on WCBS 880 radio that there was a “malfunction with the camera equipment at that particular station.”

According to Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell, the man, who was wearing a construction vest, put on a gas mask before firing rounds that hit persons on the train and the adjoining platform at 8:24 a.m. as the train rolled into the station in the Sunset Park neighborhood.
